The Move

August 2012

So, in a span of 3 weeks, way back in the middle of August, we decided to move to Grinnell, then packed up our house and set sail (well, more like the cruise control) for Iowa!  Here is my favorite family photo of 2012.  We are in the garage, in the middle of one of the craziest times in our lives, and we are still having fun!

I know you probably know this, but I LOVED our 3640 38th Avenue South house.  I really, really loved it.  We spent almost 10 years loving and living in the house.  We brought home our babies to this house.  We planted gardens in the yard, loved our neighbors, and all of us grew up together here.

So, we miss it.  But, I think really we miss the people the most.  We loved going outside and being surrounded by so many friends and people who were rooting for us.  Summer 2012 was one of the best summers- Kai played non-stop with his best buddy, Liam (who lived two houses away from us), and Ruby June played with anyone!  We spent many weeks up at the cabin, a week at a family reunion in WI, and swam, swam, swam!

Then, we packed up the house, had a garage sale (we made over $1,000!!!  but, I can't believe I got rid of most of my clothes!), put things in a pod, moved to a temporary house in Grinnell, then finally moved in to our new house here at 909 8th Avenue in Iowa!  It's a nice house. A bigger house.  A house that makes much more sense for us.  A house we are way more comfortable in.

But, ahh...it's still not our home on 38th Avenue South.  We are forever grateful to our green house with the purple porch in Minneapolis.  What a wonderful place to grow our family!
