We just got home from a weekend trip to Sarah and Andy Healy's cabin in Wisconsin. It was a great trip-- very refreshing and relaxing. It gave Kai a new area to explore-- he is crawling and standing and into everything. He is one active little guy!
Ally and Ken had their babies!! Jack and Madeline arrived a full 10 weeks early, but they are doing so good! We can't wait for them to come home soon from the hospital and get strong to play with Kai.
Our friend, Foday, was playing a soccer game in Northfield at St. Olaf College--so, we went down for the day, with his parents, to watch him play. It was Kai's first sporting event and we're guessing, with Foday's help, that he will be a soccer player!
We realized recently how much Kai loves dolls. So, his Grammy (my mom) bought him his first doll. You should see him pump his arms in excitement when Miles (the doll) comes around.
So, I quit my job and am staying at home now! Here are some photos of Soren, Kai's best friend. We're lucky to watch Soren on Monday and Wednesday mornings. It's hilarious to watch the two of them crawl around the entire house, smiling the whole time. I really didn't think you could be 9-months old and have so much fun!!!
We have so much fun at the cabin-- here are some photos of Kai at the end of the summer up in Ely. The second photo is of Kai on his first nature hike. He loved it!
Our dear, sweet little kitty, Tuck, passed away two weeks ago. As many of you know, Joe and I loved the little guy so much and it has been such a hard time for all of us (including his kitty sister, Maxie, who is so confused and upset). Tuck came down with a terrible virus in his spinal cord and he quickly went downhill. We miss Tuck so much!
MN summers are HOT!! Here is our favorite beach--La Playa Zimsen-Campe (our backyard!)
My friend, Andrea, and I went with our two little boys to a breastfeeding gathering of women who were trying to beat the Guiness Book of World Records for the most women to breastfeed all at the same time. This was happening all around the world-- I'm not sure if we broke the record, but it was a hoot!
Oh-- Did I mention that I quit my job? I'll be staying at home now with Kai and doing some daycare. One of the kids who I'll be watching is Soren who is in this photo with Kai. Soren is 3 days older than Kai. I'm lucky to be able to watch Kai's best friend. It will be fun for them to play together. Just recently, Kai has been reaching out to "kiss" people. He is a true sweetheart.
Here are a few photos of Joe's family-- The first photo is of Emma Rose, Bailey, Rosie, Kai, and Joe. Rosie is Joe's twin sister and Emma and Bailey are two of her daughters (she has 5 children and the 6th is on its way!)
The next photo is with Grandma Susie. Then, the next photo is on a pier in Seattle with Kai, Abbey, and Reba. Abbey and Reba are two more of Rosie's daughters. Then, finally, Kai and Emma are snoozing in their car seats at the end of a busy day!
After our visit with Seattle friends, we spent a week with Joe's family up in the mountains and then celebrating at Joe's Dad's 70th Birthday Party. It was Kai's first time meeting his aunts and uncles and all of his cousins. It was also Kai's first time traveling and he did wonderfully.
I can't believe I haven't posted anything in over a month! Here are photos from our trip to Seattle. At the start of our trip, we visited with Jen Costigan and her family and had so much fun. The first photo is of Kai eating at a table just his size! He loves solid foods and loved Jen's little chair and table even more. The second photo is of bath time with Jen's son, Will, who just turned three.
